SIKESTON -- A Community Improvement District aimed at improving the Midtown Plaza, specifically Malco Trio Cinema, is now on the radar for members of Sikeston's City Council and city leaders.

A discussion of the proposed district was held during a special city council meeting on Wednesday. On hand to discuss the proposal and answer questions was Robert Horn of Central Realty in St. Louis, the commercial real estate firm that manages and represents the owner for the shops in the Midtowner Plaza. The Plaza includes the property between Malone Avenue and Greer Street and South Ingram and Elm Street.

Ed Dust, economic developer for the city, said that for at least three years, the city has worked to have a clean, state-of-the-art movie theater in Sikeston.
