Nicholson medals in three events

NORFOLK, Va. -- During her three days at the AAU Junior Olympic Track and Field Games in Norfolk, Va., East Prairie senior Jennifer Nicholson came away with a medal in each of her three events she competed in.

After being ranked 23rd in the nation in the javelin before her throw, Nicholson upped her javelin rank on Thursday by finishing in seventh place with a throw of 105-feet, 7-inches. Nicholson set a new personal record in the javelin with her previous best being 91 feet.

The Lady Eagle senior-to-be had an impressive showing at Norfolk State University. She became the national champion discus thrower on Tuesday with an 145-3 toss, which also set another personal record for her as well.

She finished in fifth place in the shot put on Wednesday with a throw of 40-3 3/4.

Nicholson left the AAU Junior Olympic games with three medals in hand.
