BENTON -- Scott County officials have a better idea of what the process will be like to approve the new flood plain maps.
A joint meeting was held among the county commission, federal and state emergency management association officials and representatives of Scott County towns to discuss the new flood plain maps, intended to replace the 1987-1989 versions currently being used.
Also present was Alicia Williams, GIS project manager with AMAC, a FEMA mapping contractor. She and Joel Evans, the county's flood plain administrator, were able to exchange GIS data, which will enable both entities to overlay the maps electronically to determine exactly what the changes are.
