WILLISTON, N.D. -- Sikeston All-Star Jashawn McDaniel lifted his 14-year-old squad to a 4-3, walk-off win on Monday night against Fargo, N.D. at the 2010 Midwest Plains Regional tournament in Williston, N.D.
McDaniel's hit, which was his one and only, came in the bottom of the seventh inning of Sikeston's third game of the regional tournament. Fargo's Seth Amundson was on the mound as Nick Noble and Gavin O'Brien each found their way on base before McDaniel's heroics. With two men on and no outs yet recorded, McDaniels came up with the game-winning hit.
Sikeston had to fight back from a 3-0 deficit. After Fargo put one run across in the first, third and fifth innings, Sikeston rallied with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to tie the game.
Jarrett Sandlin earned the win on the mound facing eight batters in 1 2/3 innings pitched. Noble received the start going 5 1/3 innings and giving up two earned runs on seven hits and two walks. Noble also struck out two.
Noble, O'Brien and Austin Godwin each had two hits apiece to lead Sikeston at the plate. O'Brien and Godwin each connected for doubles.
Sikeston (2-1) is scheduled to play today at 5 p.m. against Ottumwa, Iowa. If Sikeston wins, they will play once more at 7:30 p.m. against the winner of the Ottawa, Kan. and Waite Park, Minn. game.
