PORTAGEVILLE -- Although the Portageville Lady Bulldogs volleyball team ended last season with a 4-12 record, a valuable asset may have been gained.
"We are expecting good things from this years squad due to a lot of game experience last year with a young team," Portageville head coach Barry Branscum said. "This year's team is highly motivated and excited about the upcoming season."
The Lady Bulldogs are returning four starters, three of which are seniors; Katelyn Jackson, Janika McIntyre and Emily Delisle.
McIntyre, who missed most of last season with an injury may be one to watch for Portageville according to Branscum.
"A player to watch this year is senior Janika McIntrye," he said. "She's a middle hitter who was selected to the Licking All Camp Team in St. Louis this summer."
Branscum also added the return of All-Conference junior Latavia Harris should aid the Lady Bulldogs as well.
Other juniors include Allyson Walls, Haley Kimes, Morgan McGinley, Tiffany White and Allison Klipfel. Portageville has a total of 10 sophomores and three freshman as well.
