STE. GENEVIEVE (SMNS) -- The body of a woman found at Hawn State Park in Ste. Genevieve County on Thursday was that of a Scott County woman.
The woman was identified as Michele Irene Boyd, 35, of Miner.
Boyd's body was discovered when authorities received a call from the state park's superintendent about a vehicle that had been parked on the park grounds for several days, according to a news release from the Ste. Genevieve County Sheriff's Office.
An investigation found that the car was registered to Boyd, who had been reported missing several days earlier in Scott County. Thursday afternoon searchers found Boyd's body about a half-mile into a wooded area from where the vehicle was found, the news release said.
The cause of death was still under investigation Friday, and an autopsy was planned.
