Sikeston soccer falls in tourney finals

FARMINGTON -- The Sikeston Bulldogs lost their first game of the season on Thursday night in a 2-0 loss to the Farmington Knights in the championship game of the Farmington Invitational Tournament.

"(Farmington) is a solid, big physical team," Sikeston head coach Doyle Noe said. "We battled with them and didn't back down."

Both of the Knights' goals came from Peter Grindel at the 18 and 68-minute marks as Sikeston was out-shot 14-7.

Sikeston (2-1) will play their next game on Tuesday as they host Marion, Ill. in their first home game.

VOLLEYBALL

JACKSON -- The Dexter Lady Bearcats lost a tough game against the Jackson Lady Indians on Thursday night in three sets; 25-20, 23-25 and 23-25.

The junior varsity Lady Bearcats suffered the same fate only in two sets; 20-25 and 20-25.

FALL BASEBALL

RISCO -- The Risco Tigers fall baseball squad came away with a 10-0 win over the Bernie Mules on Thursday in six innings.

Chris Pavy pitched a complete game for the Tigers and gave up three hits while connecting for two hits including a double as well

Jordan Pavy had three hits while Luke Bixler added two singles.

"Our defense started with Chris on the mound and was great all game," Risco head coach Brandon Blankenship said. "We had no errors all game and overall, we played great."
