SHS slips by Twin Rivers, 4-3

Friday, September 17, 2010

Sydney Davied
BROSELEY -- From the moment Sikeston's Sarah Dixon rounded the bases and scored on a bunt in the first inning, the Sikeston Lady Bulldogs knew it was going to be a good day.

With the help of Dixon's four-base error and a home run from Sarah Hopson, the Lady Bulldogs (6-6) defeated the Twin Rivers Lady Royals on Thursday afternoon on a 4-3 final.

"From then on we executed," Sikeston head coach Tiffany Morgan said.

Sikeston's Sydney Davied executed as well as the Lady Bulldog's winning pitcher. Davied lasted all seven innings and allowed one earned run. The defense behind her had it's mishaps but made the plays when it counted.

"We had some errors but our defense held strong," said Morgan. "Sydney pitched a good game and the defense stepped up when it had to."

Including Hopson's home run, Sikeston had four hits and only left one runner stranded. Davied, who also added a triple at the plate, left eight Lady Royals on the base paths.

Madison Chaney had half of Sikeston's hits going 2-for-3.

Next up for Sikeston will be a trip to Jackson on Monday to take on the Lady Indians.
