OAK RIDGE -- The Kelly varsity and junior varsity cross country team ran in the Oak Ridge XC meet on Tuesday with the varsity placing one runner and the junior varsity taking second overall.
Juan Campos was the only varsity member to place with a time of 20:13 which was good enough for 20th.
The junior varsity squad was anchored by a strong showing from freshman Derrick Garner who finished first with a time of 20:27. Freshmen Jerrod Lynn (21:37), Trey Walker (21:55), Devon Romine (22:27) and Caleb Birk (25:43) ended with finishes of sixth, 10th, 16th and 24th respectively. Sophomore Alan Lowe finished 24th with a time of 23:47.
Rachel Birk, a freshman on the junior varsity girls team, ended her day with a time of 35:00 for 32nd place.
The junior high team was led by Jacob McClain (11:17, 11th place), Riley Stark (11:30, 12th place, Skylar Lemons (11:35, 13th place), Dalton Huffman (11:43, 16th place), Aaron Birk (11:43, 17th place) and John Crone (12:31, 24th place).
McKenzie Roth gave Kelly's junior high girls team a time of 15:26 which placed her 24th.
