Both Kelly, Scott City fall in close contests

ORAN -- Oran got its seventh win of the season Wednesday afternoon, holding Delta scoreless in a 10-0 win in five innings.

The Lady Eagles rallied with a pair of three-run innings in the second and fourth, which a four-run third sandwiched in between.

Starting pitcher Morgan Todt pitched a complete game to earn the win. She allowed three hits and no walks while striking out three.

At the plate, Molly McConnell, Addie Kielhofner and Taylor Nenninger all tied for the team lead with two hits apiece.

BENTON -- Though Kelly was originally scheduled to play at Perryville, inclement weather in the region allowed the Lady Hawks to gain home field advantage when the two teams decided to move the game to Kelly.

Unfortunately for the Lady Hawks, the change in venue couldn't stop the Lady Pirates' offense as Perryville won 7-4.

Emily Grojean led the losing effort, going 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Kaitlin Glastetter and Jade Rampley also contributed multiple hits with two each.

Next, Kelly travels to Notre Dame Monday to play the Lady Bulldogs at 4 p.m.

JACKSON -- After holding a slim 5-4 lead going in to the bottom of the sixth, visiting Scott City saw Jackson go on to score a run in both of the final two frames to take the 6-5 win.

Out-hitting the Lady Indians 8-5 as a team, the Lady Rams were led by Macy Hall and Brittany Kiefer, who each contributed two hits to Scott City's effort.

Scott City coach Amy Pobst said she thought her team played well, but just could not push any extra runs over late in the game.

Next up, the Lady Rams (11-7) will play visiting Delta today at 4:30 p.m.
