Sikeston soccer blasts AJ
SHS tennis team defeated by Kennett Thursday
ANNA, Ill. -- The Sikeston Bulldogs soccer team improved to 6-8 on the season with a 4-1 win over Anna-Jonesboro.
The game was scoreless at the half before the Bulldogs exploded in the second. Grant Hinton scored at the 45 minute mark off an assist from Hunter Williams to get the scoring started.
Anna-Jonesboro tied the game about five minutes later on a penalty kick, but Chase Barron answered at the 55-minute mark off Williams' second assist of the game.
Sikeston put the game away in the 75th minute when Josh Bill scored off an assist from Blake Angle. The Bulldogs added an insurance goal a few minutes later when Paul Hughes scored off an assist from Barron.
Sikeston played Maplewood-Richmond Heights Saturday in the fifth place game of the Hillsboro Tournament. Results can be found in Monday's edition of the Standard Democrat.

KENNETT -- The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs fell 9-0 to the Kennett Lady Indians on Thursday afternoon.
Kennett also breezed through the junior varsity matches winning 10-0.
Sikeston's next match will be at home against Charleston on Monday.
