EAST PRAIRIE -- With 502 total yards, visiting Mountain View-Liberty showed East Prairie just how dangerous its offense can be.
Running up a 34-point lead by the half, Liberty wound up with over 40 points for the fourth straight week, beating East Prairie 41-7.
"We got beat by a team that's just plain better than us tonight," East Prairie coach Jason Aycock said. "There was no strategy that won the game, they just out-manned us."
Wasting little time, Liberty put East Prairie in a hole early when quarterback Kole Gastineau broke free for a 40-yard run on the fourth play of the opening drive to give Liberty a 7-0 advantage.
Not content, Liberty ended the first quarter with a twenty-point lead as Gastineau connecting with Derek Daniels and Daniel Porter for 61 and 6-yard touchdown strikes respectively.
Scoring twice more in the final five minutes of the second quarter while continuing to stifle East Prairie's offense, Liberty was able to take a commanding 34-0 lead in to the second half.
"We've been down (before) at Kennett, but it isn't anything like being down 34-0," East Prairie's Aaron Miller said. "It's very hard to come back from that. It just kills your drive."
With such a commanding lead, Liberty was able to keep the ball on the ground in the final two quarters, passing only three times compared to 18 run plays.
After Liberty added one final touchdown, a 14-yard pass to Steven Moore in the third, East Prairie finally found a way to break up the shutout in the closing minutes.
Taking the hand-off from 24-yards out, Aaron Miller took the ball up the left side, beating a Liberty defender at the goal line with 3:02 left in the game to put East Prairie on the board.
Unfortunately for East Prairie, it was too little, too late as the Eagles saw their three-game win streak come to an end.
"There's nothing more disgusting than when you get a team that runs all over you like that," Miller said. "It hurts to say that you come out here and play a team that were just better than you.
"It hurts to say that, but you have to give them their props."
Coming in to the game with 467 yards rushing, Porter was once again a force on the ground for Liberty.
Shedding tacklers nearly every play, Porter ended the game with 130 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries despite sitting out much of the final two quarters.
"He's a work horse," Liberty coach Darin Acklin said. "He's kind of in his prime right now. He's peaking at the right time and whenever he's running like that I'll feed him as many times as he wants it."
Leading Liberty's passing attack, Gastineau finished the game 11-for-16 for 207 yards and four touchdowns and no picks.
For East Prairie, Miller led the ground game with 87 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries. With 42 carries on the night, East Prairie got 162 of their 215 total yards on the ground.
In the passing game, Connor Scott was 4-for-13 for 53 yards and two interceptions.
While yardage may have been tough to come by Friday night, Scott thought the team was able to cut down on errors from their previous games.
"We thought our offense was pretty good," Scott said. "We actually cut down on mistakes we've had in the previous few weeks. But they're a good team and a good defense.
"It's just good preparation for the next few weeks to come."
