Dexter downs Advance, Oran loses to Zalma


FARMINGTON -- Scoring the games lone goal 20 minutes into Monday's contest, the Farmington Knights held visiting Sikeston scoreless to take the 1-0 win.

Bulldog's coach Doyle Noe said the Knights, ranked No. 4 in the state, are the team to beat in the area with their physical, strong and aggressive play.

He added his team had their chances, but the breaks didn't go their way.

Earlier in the night, the two schools junior varsity squads played out to a 0-0 tie.

Sikeston (7-9) will travel to Jackson today to play the Indians before visiting Marion, Ill. where they will play the Wildcats on Thursday.


Chaffee 24, Saxony 3

JACKSON -- The Chaffee Lady Devils improved to 5-13 on the season Monday, pounding Saxony Lutheran 24-3.

Sierra Miller paced the 11-hit Chaffee attack with three hits, two doubles, and four RBIs, scoring three runs. Hannah Bedwell scored five runs and drove in two while going 2 for 3 with two doubles while Stevie Schrum was also 2 for 3 with two runs scored and four RBIs.

Chaffee will be back in action today when they host Twin Rivers.

Dexter 2, Advance 0

ADVANCE -- The Dexter Lady Bearcats volleyball squad defeated Advance on Monday evening in two sets, 25-17 and 25-23.

Elisha Flanigan led Dexter with 13 kills. McKenzie Mitchell added five while Lauren Ward and Hannah Noe dished out nine and 10 assists, respectively.

The Lady Bearcats will host Leopold tonight at 6 p.m.

The Dexter Lady Bearcat junior varsity also came away winners against Advance in three sets, 24-26, 25-23 and 25-22.

Zalma 2, Oran 0

ZALMA -- The Oran Lady Eagles fell to the Zalma Lady Bulldogs in two sets, 25-14 and 25-14.
