CHAFFEE -- After Wednesday's 3rd annual Chaffee Postal Meet went off without a hitch, Lady Red Devil's cross country coach Travis Calkins thinks he and his squad have ironed out most the kinks in running a successful meet.

"I would say (it went) almost flawless," he said of this year's 5K event. "This is the third year we put on the meet and the first year was just a train wreck. Last year was pretty good and this year we got a little bit behind schedule, but it just really went well.

"Really after this year I think we know what we're doing. There's not many changes that need to be made."

Finishing with 110 points as a team, Chaffee placed fourth in the girls division, trailing third place Dexter by 36 points.

Molli McGowan was the Lady Devil's fastest runner on the day, finishing in 13th place with a time of 22:25.

Trailing McGowan by 30 seconds was teammate Sierra Miller, whose time of 22:55 was good for 16th. Some of Chaffee's other notable runner's included Ellie Sigman, Cassie Hindman and Randi Wiley who came in 26th through 28th respectively.

"I've ran faster, but I've gotten a lot slower since my sophomore year," team captain Wiley said while noting it was one of her better runs of the year. "It was perfect running conditions today. It was a great day to run a race."

It was Farmington who easily won both sides of the meet, out-pacing second place Saxony Lutheran in the girl's division by 49 points and beating second place Valle Catholic on the boy's side by 52 points.

Running only on the boy's side, Sikeston finished the night in fifth place with 135 points, narrowly beating out sixth placed Saxony Lutheran who had 138 points.

"Kids ran well (tonight)," Bulldog's coach Gregg Holifield said. "Ethan (Scheer) had a great time. Overall I was proud of all of our runners. I thought they competed and did a good job."

Scheer was Sikeston's top runner in the event, finishing in 11th place with a time of 18:22, two seconds behind 10th place Daylan Davis of Meadow Heights.

The top 15 times received medals in Wednesday's event.
