SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs wrapped up their home schedule on Wednesday afternoon blistering Saxony Lutheran 21-0.

Sikeston quickly put the game away, scoring 17 runs off of eight hits in the first inning, helped by two RBIs from Sarah Dixon, Sydney Davied and Kayla Fodge. Madison Chaney, Courtney Collins, Nicki James and Katie Hines also drove in runs as Sydney King, Sarah Hopson and Chaney all had two hits in the inning, including a double by King.

"The girls came out patient and waited on the ball," said Sikeston coach Tiffany Morgan. "We got some quality hits out of girls we needed to see quality hits out of. Sydney King came through with two solid hits and Courtney Collins came through on the left side which was good to see."

Sikeston started substituting liberally in the second adding four more runs while Davied was making short work of Saxony Lutheran at the plate. Davied was perfect through three innings, striking out four.

The game was the final home game for seniors Courtney Collins, Sydney Davied, Katie Hines, Elizabeth Bolen, Nicki James, Sarah Hopson, Sarah Cantrell and Breanna Gipson.

"These eight seniors are going to be hard to replace," Morgan said. "We relied a lot on Sarah Hopson and Sydney Davied pitching this year. Sarah has been my ace for four years and that is going to be a big loss.

"Courtney Collins has really stepped up and played and Nicki James and Katie Hines in the outfield along with Sydney Davied has been a big boost for us and then Bo (Elizabeth Bolen) when she is over at third has really helped. These girls have really developed in their four years."

Sikeston (11-7) will travel to Delta today to take on the Lady Bobcats at 4 p.m. and will play Naylor Monday on the road before starting district play. The Lady Bulldogs drew the fifth seed in the Class 4, District 1 Tournament and will take on Cape Central at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday in Jackson.
