FESTUS -- The Scott City Lady Rams' season ended on Thursday during a 12-4 loss to St. Pius in the Class 2, District 2 tournament.
St. Pius got on the board early with four runs in the second and then six more in the fifth putting the Lady Rams in a big hole. Scott City pushed their first run across in the fifth and then added three more in the sixth, but it wasn't enough to overcome St. Pius.
"It ended a little shorter than we had hoped," Scott City head coach Amy Pobst said. "St. Pius was really hitting the ball against us. But, our girls never gave up and I'm very proud of them for that. We fought well as a team all season long."
Alexis Spriggs was handed the loss for Scott City, but she also led them at the plate with two hits, a double and triple. Jenna Cummins also added two hits while Lindsay Kern added a double and Melanie Lacey smacked a solo home run to straight center field.
Scott City finished their season with a 14-11 record and will be parting with two seniors, Lacey and Stacey Heisserer.
