Rams win battle of state-ranked teams

ST. LOUIS -- The Sikeston Bulldogs soccer team won two games on Saturday in a tournament at St. Louis against Sacred Heart and Southern Boone County.

Sikeston senior Hunter Williams totaled all four of the Bulldogs' goals as they defeated Sacred Heart 3-1 and the state-ranked Southern Boone County 1-0.

"It was a great effort by my guys," Sikeston head coach Doyle Noe said. "Our games were back-to-back so it was nice to see them pull out two hard-fought, physical games. It was a good test for us."

Sikeston (12-11) have two games remaining in the regular season. They will travel to Poplar Bluff on Monday, then will end their season hosting Saxony Lutheran for Senior Night at 6 p.m.


Scott City 2, Perryville 1

PERRYVILLE -- After losing their first set 25-16 on Wednesday, the defending Class 2 state champion Scott City Lady Rams rallied past the Perryville Pirates at Perryville winning the second set 26-24 and the third 25-17.

Leading the Lady Rams to the victory, Katie Hogan amassed 20 kills, six kill block and nine digs while Mikah Simpson added 12 kills, three kill blocks and nine digs.

Mallory Reddick had 21 digs, Andrea Gray had 19 assists and four digs while Sydney Short chipped in 17 assists and eight digs.

Scott City ended their regular season at 26-5-2 and will now head into the Class 2, District 2 tournament which will be hosted on their home court.
