SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Junior High girls basketball teams split with Cape Central on Thursday night at Sikeston Junior High.
The Sikeston seventh grade team overcame a slow start to win easily 31-11.
Trailing 3-2 after one quarter, the Lady Bulldogs outscored Cape Central 11-0 in the second quarter to gain a 13-3 advantage at halftime.
Sikeston outscored Cape Central 16-4 in the third quarter to put the game away.
Hayly Chapman scored 13 points to lead Sikeston.
The eighth grade, however, fell 28-18 with Dominique Roach and Devita Miller leading their squad with five points apiece.
Sikeston fell behind early, trailing Cape Central 11-2 after one quarter and 17-4 at halftime.
The Lady Bulldogs outscored Cape Central 12-11 in the second half but it wasn't enough.
