DEXTER -- For the second-straight season, the word surrounding the Dexter Lady Bearcats is youth.

Last year, Dexter turned their youth into a 15-10 season, falling in the Class 4, District 1 championship game to Notre Dame. However, once again, the Lady Bearcats will be full of underclassmen with only one senior and one junior on the roster.

"We don't have a lot of experience on the varsity level but you can say we have more experience coming back this year than we did last year," said coach Chad Allen. "Last year all we had was Abbie Warren coming back and this year we have Brittany Harris and Katelyn Frazier coming back. With the freshman group we have coming in, they are pretty talented for their age group."

Harris averaged 14.8 points and 9.6 rebounds per game as a freshman while Frazier evolved as the primary ball-handler for the Lady Bearcats.

"Both of their games have really excelled in this past year and they have gotten a whole lot better and I think we will start to notice that this year," Allen said. "Brittany is six foot, extremely quick and agile and she can get the ball to the goal at any time. We're going to try and utilize her inside and out."

Added to Harris and Frazier is a group of high-touted young freshman and Allen hopes as the season progresses the Lady Bearcats become a threat at district time.

"We're going to take a few lumps, especially early," Allen said. "As long as they can stay focused and know they are young and keep on applying themselves and pushing themselves, the more experience they get they better they'll get. Hopefully by the end of the year we will have enough experience to compete and do really well in districts."
