Seeds for SEMO tourney released

Sikeston gets nod for top seed

SIKESTON -- The 2010 SEMO Conference basketball tournament seedings were released on Monday with the Sikeston Bulldogs given the No. 1 spot.

The Cape Central Tigers are the No. 2 seed while Notre Dame and Charleston round out the top four.

Jackson was given the No. 5 seed, Dexter the sixth, Poplar Bluff took the No. 7 seed while New Madrid County Central rounds out the bracket at the No. 8 spot.

"I think it's a great tournament," Sikeston head coach Gregg Holifield said. "It's very balanced this year and we should see some great games."

Sikeston will kick off the tournament held at the Sikeston Field House against NMCC on Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m. Charleston will take on Jackson at 7 p.m. followed by Cape Central against Poplar Bluff at 8:30 p.m. Notre Dame will battle Dexter on Dec. 7 at 6 p.m

Sikeston comes into the tournament as the 2-time defending champions.
