Hawks are looking to turn fortunes around

Wednesday, November 24, 2010

BENTON -- Coming off a winless 2009-2010 season, the Kelly Hawks are hoping the combination of some veteran leadership along with plenty of fresh new faces can help turn their fortunes around.

"We will have some good leadership from our returners," new head coach Josh Eftink said. "We will also need some of our newcomers to step in and contribute right away."

Finishing the year at 0-22, the Hawks season came to a close when they opened the Class 3, District 1 Tournament with an 87-24 loss to the first-seeded and eventual champion Kennett Indians.

Kelly returns four from that squad, including Garrett Alsup, Trey Drury, Stosh Lovett and Sawyer Elfrink.

Some of the six new faces expected to contribute include Josh Long, Ian Householder, Gabe Felter and Aaron Granger.
