Pardon enters guilty plea

NEW MADRID - A former public official has entered a guilty plea for stealing money from those in her care.

Nancy C. Pardon, who served as the New Madrid County public administrator until August 2008, appeared Friday before Circuit Judge Stephen Sharp. She pleaded guilty to three felony counts of stealing. Douglas S. Pribble with the Missouri Attorney General's office, served as special prosecutor in the cases.

Pardon is accused of a class B felony of stealing for the theft of at least $25,000 in cash and checks from one of those under her care. Also she is charged with two class C felonies of stealing for the theft of at least $500 from two others who she was responsible for as the county's public administrator.

Formal sentencing is set for Feb. 4.
