Chaffee, Scott City both earn wins

CHAFFEE -- The Chaffee basketball team topped their win total from last season on Tuesday night, dropping Saxony Lutheran 55-50 at home.

The Red Devils, who finished 6-15 last season, improved to 7-2 on the season as a strong third quarter put Chaffee up by four heading into the final frame. The Red Devils then closed out the game late for the five-point win.

Alex Crowe scored 24 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead Chaffee while Jordan Yahn added 13.

The Red Devils will be back in action Friday when they travel to Scott City.

STEELE -- The Scott City picked up their second win of the season with a 98-33 shellacking of South Pemiscot on the road Tuesday night.

The Rams jumped out to a 21-6 lead after one and led 37-12 at halftime. Scott City then erased all doubt in the third quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 39-11.

Zach Cotner scored 34 to lead the Rams (2-8) while Landon Robert and Justin Modglin added 20 and 12 points respectively.

JACKSON -- The Sikeston ninth grade Bulldogs got by the Jackson Indians on Tuesday night with a 44-37 win.

JT Jones led the Bulldog attack with 15 points while Dantrell Brown chipped in 10 points.

Sikeston (5-1) held on to a 29-23 lead after the third quarter, outscoring the Indians 15-14 in the final frame.

Sikeston's next game will be Thursday when they host Cape Central.
