SCOTT CITY -- The Scott City Lady Rams got 24 points from Katie Hogan and used a big third quarter to put away Malden 58-35 at home on Thursday.

Scott City (8-2) led 26-14 at the half but broke the game open with an 18-5 third quarter putting the Lady Rams comfortably ahead 44-19.

Melanie Lacey added 10 points for Scott City while Jennifer Miller scored 10 to lead Malden.

Scott City will be back in action Monday in the Scott-Mississippi Tournament at Delta. The Lady Rams earned the top seed and will take on Chaffee at 4 p.m.

East Prairie 59, Puxico 11

PUXICO -- East Prairie senior Jennifer Nicholson scored her 1,000th point on Thursday night during the Lady Eagles 59-11 romp over the Puxico Lady Indians.

Nicholson scored 19 points for East Prairie in the Lady Eagles' third-straight win.

East Prairie (3-5) will try and keep that momentum going into next week when they take part in the Scott-Mississippi Conference tournament at Delta on Monday against Oran at 5:30 p.m.

Senath 67, NMCC 61

SENATH -- The New Madrid County Central Lady Eagles fell to the Senath-Hornersville Lady Lions 67-61 on Thursday night.

Benesha Childress and Karen McGloson each led the Lady Eagles with 18 points.


Sikeston 49, Cape Central 47

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston Bulldogs freshman basketball team won another close contest on Thursday, downing Cape Central 49-47 in overtime.

The game proved to be a free throw shooting exhibition as the teams combined to shoot 74 free throws in the game. However, Sikeston led at the end of each quarter until Cape Central tied the game at 45-45 at the end of regulation. The Bulldogs then outscored the Tigers 4-2 in overtime to improve to 6-1.

J.T. Jones led Sikeston with 13 points while Dantrell Brown added 10.

Sikeston will be back in action Monday when they take on Dexter in the Poplar Bluff Tournament.

Sikeston 47, Cape Central 30

SIKESTON -- The Sikeston eighth grade Bulldogs defeated the visiting Cape Central Tigers on Thursday night winning 47-30.

Zach Jackson led the Bulldogs with 14 points while Luke Williams added 10.

"I thought we played very well coming off our Christmas break," Sikeston coach Kevin Self said. "Cape has a pretty good team and, all in all, it was a good win for us."

Sikeston will be back in action on Monday when they travel to Jackson.
