Two events will mark MLK Day celebration

SIKESTON -- Two events will mark the 25th celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day in Sikeston.

The first event, a musical service, will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Traveler's Rest Missionary Baptist Church located at 224 Alabama St.

The celebration will continue Monday with the annual motorcade parade and luncheon.

The parade line up will begin at 11 a.m. at the Open Door Fellowship Ministry, 204 Jackson St.

Lunch will be served immediately following the parade at the Clinton Community Building, 501 Campanella Drive.

This year's keynote speaker for the luncheon will be Alfred L. Harris Sr. of Memphis, Tenn.
