The event, scheduled for March 5, will help fund a new exhibit on earthquakes as the nation prepares to mark the 200th anniversary of the 1811-12 earthquakes. The Mardi-Gras themed event will also earn one of those attending a possible prize of up to $10,000.

March 5 event benefits efforts for new quake exhibit

NEW MADRID --With this year's 200th anniversary commemoration of the 1811-1812 earthquakes which put the town on the map, the New Madrid Historical Museum's board is developing a major new exhibit on the quakes and a new fundraiser to help pay for it.
