Jackson stops SHS winning streak at 7; Dexter upsets ND

Both Chaffee and Oran girls come up short

JACKSON -- Sikeston saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end Monday night as the Jackson Lady Indians took an early lead and held on for a 62-44 win.

Down by 21 points after two quarters, the Lady Bulldogs (14-7) were to use a big third to come back to within 13 entering the fourth. Unfortunately for Sikeston, the Lady Indians came back to outscore the Lady Bulldogs 14-9 in the fourth frame to seal their win.

Leading the Lady Bulldogs was Tyangela Gibson with 14 points while Darqueshionna Howard and Asia Liggins contributed 11 and 10 points respectively.

DEXTER -- Pushing their winning streak to seven, the Dexter Lady Bearcats rode a hot fourth quarter to a 56-54 comeback win over the Notre Dame Lady Bulldogs.

Down 27-19 at the half, Dexter (15-8) closed to within five entering the fourth before outscoring Notre Dame 19-11 in the frame to come away with the win.

Leading the way was Brittany Harris with 20 points while Hannah Noe and Alison Jarrell each contributed 10.

JACKSON -- Outscored for three-straight quarters to start the game, the Chaffee Lady Devils fell 44-31 to the Saxony Lutheran Lady Crusaders.

Facing a 36-20 deficit entering the fourth, the Lady Devils (3-13) were able to outscore the Lady Crusaders 14-8, but still faced a double-digit deficit.

Randi Wiley led the way with for Chaffee with 11 points with Adrienne Eichhorn adding nine to the Lady Devils cause.

Scott City 73, Bloomfield 62 (OT)

BLOOMFIELD -- After a second half Bloomfield rally forced overtime, the Scott City Rams easily outscored the Wildcats in the extra period to win 73-62.

Down 35-20 at halftime, the Wildcats were able to dominate the third quarter, 17-4, to close back in on the Rams. It was a fourth quarter push that closed the final two-point gap to force overtime.

Led By Zach Cotner's 32 points on the night, Scott City (8-12) was able to hold on for the win. The Rams put up 20 points to Bloomfield's nine in the extra period.
