Sikeston boys basketball team finishes undefeated season with rout of St. Francis Borgia

COLUMBIA -- The Sikeston Bulldogs claimed the first state title in school history on Saturday, defeating St. Francis Borgia 74-55 in the Class 4 championship game at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.

Behind four 3-pointers from senior Will Holifield, Sikeston built as much as a 20-point lead in the first half. Borgia, who had knocked Sikeston out of the playoffs in the quarterfinals the last two seasons, rallied in the second half to cut the lead to eight points. But Bulldog senior Corey Porter scored big basket after big basket on his way to a game-high 24 points as Sikeston won going away 74-55, finishing the season at 30-0.
