The Wildcats return six starters from last year's final four team and finished the fall with a 20-5 record, winning the Tri-County Conference.

Returning to Cooter will be all-state pitcher Zach Watkins along with junior pitcher Jordan Anderson and sophomore left hander Brandon Bridges.

"Those three will get most of the work during the spring," Cooter coach Allen Crawford said.

Those three will also lead the team offensively as will juniors Patrick Ward, Dustin Franklin and sophomore Jesse Rayburn. Crawford said that group of six players will be counted on heavily if the Wildcats are to win their sixth consecutive district title.

Cooter will compete in Class 1, District 1 with several tough teams the Wildcats must beat in order to continue their streak. Included in the district is a talented Holcomb Hornets squad along with Risco, who Cooter defeated in last season's district title game. Others include Southland, North Pemiscot, Clarkton and Delta C-7.

The Wildcats open their season on March 25 when they travel to Risco to take on the Tigers.
