The measure would change how local circuit clerk is elected

BENTON -- A bill in the Missouri House of Representatives could change the way the Scott County Circuit Clerk is elected.

HB884, introduced by Rep. John Diehl, a Republican from St. Louis County, specifies that circuit clerks in the 22nd and 28th judicial circuits, as well as in Scott County, must be appointed by the majority of their respective circuit and associate circuit judges.
