Scott Central head basketball coach Kenyon Wright confirmed numerous reports Tuesday morning.
"I didn't talk to him for a long time (about his decision), but the reason I think is that he's going there is because there's a lot of opportunities for him (at Georgetown)," Wright said. "If he goes out there he gets to meet a lot of people and it's a basketball place. They confirmed what the coaches have told him. It's basketball oriented.
"He knows there is a lot of opportunities for him to become a better basketball player there."
Porter averaged 30 points and 12 rebounds in his senior campaign with the Braves. He led SCC to their third-straight Class 1 championship this season.
Ranked the 31st best high school player in the country by ESPN, the 6-foot-9 forward had narrowed his final three school choices to Georgetown, Missouri and Kansas.
