Homers help Risco down North Pemiscot

RISCO -- The Risco Tigers hit three home runs en route to an 11-1 win over North Pemiscot on Thursday afternoon.

Jordon Pavy hit a solo homer in the third while Chris Pavy hit a 3-run shot in the fourth and Kris Walker hit a 2-run blast in the fifth for the Tigers. Walker also knocked in the final run of the game with a single as he finished 2-for-4 on the day along with Jordon Pavy. Zack Brannon finished 2-for-3 at the plate as well.

Brandon Bixler picked up the win on the mound for Risco who improves to 6-6 on the season. The Tigers will travel to Holcomb on Monday to take on the Hornets in a conference and district match-up.

South Pemiscot 14, Hayti 4

Kennett 10, South Pemiscot 3

STEELE -- The South Pemiscot Bulldogs split a doubleheader on Thursday, defeating Hayti 14-4 before falling to Kennett 10-3.

In the opener, South Pemiscot blew open a 2-1 game with six runs in the third and five more in the fourth to win by the mercy rule.

Harley Grimes finished the game 3-for-4 for the Bulldogs while Jacob Trammel was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Jordan Carter added a double as South Pemiscot pounded out 10 hits in the game.

Austin Wagner picked up the win on the mound, allowing four runs (three earned) in 4 1/3 innings while giving up four hits and two walks, striking out nine. Grimes pitched the final 2/3 of an inning, giving up one hit and striking out two.

In the second game, Kennett scored in all but two innings, as South Pemiscot (3-4) fell 10-3.

Carter was 2-for-4 for South Pemiscot as the Bulldogs finished with only three hits.

Logan Dollins, Adam Grantham and Justin Smith all had two hits apiece for Kennett.

Carter took loss on the mound for the Bulldogs, allowing eight runs (six earned) in five innings while giving up nine hits and one walk, striking out four.

Ryan Nolen pitched the final two innings, allowing only two unearned runs on one hit and two walks while striking out one.

Cameron Wallace earned the win for Kennett, tossing five innings without allowing a run. He gave up two hits and two walks while striking out nine.

NMCC 12, Bell City 0

NEW MADRID -- The New Madrid County Central Eagles had a huge first inning and cruised to a 12-0 win over Bell City on Thursday.

NMCC scored 10 runs in the first and added single runs in the second and fourth.

Kelly Robey was dominate in the circle once again for the Lady Eagles, pitching a perfect game through four innings, striking out 11. Michaela Townsend pitched the fifth, allowing only a walk while striking out one.

Nikki Martin was 3-for-3 at the plate with two doubles to lead the Lady Eagles while Katie Rausch also added a double.

NMCC (9-0) will play at Gideon on Monday at 4 p.m.

Delta 11, Meadow Heights 6

OAK RIDGE -- The Delta Lady Bobcats improved to 7-2 with an 11-6 win over Meadow Heights in the Oak Ridge Tournament.

Delta broke open a close 1-0 game with five runs in the top of the fourth and added a single tally in the sixth and four in the seventh.

Myra Henson earned the win in the circle and went 2-for-3 at the plate. Samantha Bartels finished 4-for-4 while Courtney Beggs was 3-for-5 for the Lady Bobcats.

Kennett Invitational

KENNETT -- The Sikeston junior high boys track team finished first at the Kennett Invitational on Wednesday while the girls placed third.

The boys had seven first place finishes with Tyler McClinton winning three events (long jump, high jump and triple jump). Deterio Newman placed first in the 100-meter hurdles while the Bulldogs finished first in the 400-meter, 800-meter and 1600-meter relays.

The girls did not have any first place finishes on the day.
