Chaffee, SCC both earn wins

CHAFFEE -- Getting their 12th win of the season, the Chaffee Red Devils defeated Bell City 11-1 on Thursday.

Taking an early 3-0 lead in the first, Chaffee padded its lead with a five run rally in the third before scoring another three in the seventh.

Jason Cicardi, Trevor Cannon and Layton Tenkhoff all contributing two hits to the Red Devils cause, including Tenkhoff and Cannon coming away with a double each.

Going five innings, Alex Davie picked up the win while adding a triple to his own cause on offense.

Scott Central 12, Delta 2

SIKESTON -- The Scott County Central Braves defeated Delta 12-2 in five innings on Tuesday at Scott Central High School.

Ben Freed and Kamryn Johnson combined to give up two runs (one earned) on the mound. Freed ended up getting the win.

Scott Central (6-3) pounded out 13 hits led by Johnson's 3 for 3 day at the plate which included an RBI. Freed, who went 2 for 3 at the dish, added a solo home run in the second inning.

The Braves will host Meadow Heights today at 4 p.m.

Cooter 11, Portageville 6

PORTAGEVILLE -- The Cooter Wildcats knocked around the Portageville Bulldogs, 11-6, on Tuesday in Portageville.

Zach Watkins picked up the win on the mound throwing 3 1/2 innings in relief. Watkins struck out five and walked two. He gave up five hits and one run.

Watkins and Dustin Franklin led the Wildcats at the plate. Franklin went 4 for 5 with five RBI while Watkins went 3 for 5 which included a home run and a triple.

South Pemiscot 13,

Twin Rivers 3

STEELE -- The South Pemiscot Bulldogs improved to 5-4 on the season, defeating Twin Rivers 13-3 on Tuesday.

The Bulldogs pounded out 18 hits on the day with Ryan Nolen, Jordan Carter, Hunter Williams and Uriel Jiminez all finished the game 3-for-4 while Austin Wagner, Logan Carter and Harley Grimes were all 2-for-4. Jordan Carter had two home runs and four RBIs.

Jordan Carter earned the win, allowing three runs on five hits in six innings of work, walking two and striking out 10.
