CAPE GIRARDEAU -- Additional heavy rains over the weekend, added to an already saturated ground, has forced the postponement of the SEMO Conference Baseball Tournament finals that were scheduled for Monday.
The games will now be played on Saturday at Poplar Bluff High instead of Capaha Field and will held in conjunction with the junior varsity conference tournament that is to be played this week.
The current schedule has both junior varsity semifinal games to be held at 10 a.m., with one being played at Poplar Bluff High School and the other at Three Rivers College. The winners of the two games will meet in the finals at 12:30 p.m. at Poplar Bluff High School.
Following the junior varsity games, Sikeston will take on Poplar Bluff in the varsity fifth place game at around 2:30 p.m. with Cape Central and Jackson squaring off in the third place game around 5 p.m. The championship game between Notre Dame and Kennett will be played at 7:30 p.m.
All of the varsity games will be held at Poplar Bluff High School.
NEW MADRID -- The SEMO Central and SEMO South Conference Track Meets scheduled for Monday afternoon were also postponed due to recent heavy rains.
Both meets will now be held on Wednesday, with the SEMO South meet to be start at 3 p.m. at Chaffee High School.
The SEMO Central meet, originally scheduled to be held at New Madrid County Central High School, has been moved to Kennett High School and will begin at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
