Still down by one entering the top of the seventh Risco found themselves clinging to their final out of the game when their No. 8 and 9 hitters struck out to start the inning.
Keeping Risco alive, however, their leadoff hitter singled in the next at bat before Caleb McCord hit a two-run home run to give his team the lead. Risco scored another run before the frame was over to give themselves a two-run advantage.
Closing out a complete game performance on the mound, McCord came back in the bottom of the seventh and retired the side in order, including striking out the final two batters to seal the win.
"Caleb pitched a great game," Risco coach Brandon Blankenship said. "He seemed to get stronger as the game went on. Neelyville's a strong team and it's the first time we've had a team down and were able to hold on."
In earning the win, McCord struck out eight and sent Neelyville's lineup down in order in each of the least three innings.
Both McCord and Jordon Pavy had two hits to lead Risco.
