BENTON --- A joint investigation by the Scott County Sheriff's Office and the city of Benton Police Department led to the drug-related arrests of three Scott County residents.
David Cornelius, 26, of Oran along with Rana Pullum, 42, and Randy Ziegler, 50, both of Benton, are each charged with attempt to manufacture, possession of chemicals, possession of precursors, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of an imitation controlled substance, according to Scott County Sheriff Rick Walter. Pullum and Ziegler are also charged with possession of a controlled substance.
Walter said officers obtained information of drug activity at a residence in Benton. Around 3 a.m. Monday, during a surveillance, officers noticed suspicious activity, such as several lights being on, windows open and the air conditioners running. Officers discovered a vehicle parked in the driveway which was registered to Cornelius, who had an active warrant for his arrest.
Officers made contact at the residence, attempting to locate and arrest Cornelius, but found an imitation controlled substance, known as bath salt on the kitchen table.
