Public advised school activity will include the sounds of gunfire

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Department of Public Safety is alerting the public they may hear gunfire today from a planned school program.

According to Sergeant Jim McMillen, public information officer with the Sikeston DPS, the Sikeston Junior High's eighth grade social studies class will participate in a small Civil War reenactment Wednesday at the Sikeston Junior High. While the event is not open to the public, those driving by the school at 510 Lindenwood, just off Salcedo Road, could hear the firing of Civil War period rifles, he said.
