COOTER -- A big sixth inning rally by Holcomb ended the Risco Tigers' season Tuesday afternoon with a 16-6 loss in the Class 1, District 1 Tournament semifinals.
Holding a 6-3 lead at one point, the Tigers were able to hold the Hornets to a 6-6 tie entering the bottom of the fifth.
Unfortunately for Risco, Holcomb broke out for 10 runs in the frame to end the game on the mercy rule.
"The final score doesn't indicate how good of a game it was until that final inning," Tigers' coach Brandon Blankenship said. "Hats off to Holcomb."
Risco's only extra-base hit came in the third inning when Jordon Pavy hit a two-run home run as part of a five run rally that gave the Tigers a momentary lead.
With the loss Risco ends the season at 11-12.
