Charleston and Oran both will play today
CHARLESTON -- Heavy rains and strong storms that engulfed the area on Wednesday postponed all scheduled state baseball playoff games until today.
Charleston's first trip to the state quarterfinals was pushed back until today at 5:30 p.m. when they host the No. 1 team in Class 2, the Valle Catholic Warriors (22-5). The Bluejays enter the contest with a record of (15-9) after their dramatic 6-5 win over Malden on Monday.
Oran (22-2), winners over Cooter, will host Naylor (16-4) in a Class 1 quarterfinal game today at 4 p.m.
This is the second time in a week Oran has had a playoff game impacted by weather, as their sectional game against Cooter was delayed a day after playing into the third inning on Monday.
Both games will be dependent on the rain clearing the area in time to prepare the fields.
In Class 3, Kennett's quarterfinal game that was originally scheduled for Thursday was already moved to Friday due to the Kennett High School graduation that is set for tonight. The Indians (23-2) will travel to Lutheran North (16-10) for their game at 4 p.m. on Friday.
