Brandom makes campaign official

Sunday, June 12, 2011

CAPE GIRARDEAU - A Sikeston resident made it official Saturday: She is seeking the District 27 Senate seat.

Speaking before a group of supporters gathered in Cape Girardeau, 160th District State Rep. Ellen Brandom launched her campaign to represent the people of Bollinger, Cape Girardeau, Madison, Mississippi, Perry and Scott counties in Jefferson City as their senator. The office is currently filled by Jason Crowell, R-Cape Girardeau, who will be forced out by term limits.

With the primary still more than a year away, Brandom explained she wanted to campaign while the Legislature is not in session.

"When the next legislative session starts in January, I'm going to be really busy," she said. "Campaigning won't be my focus while the Legislature is in session."
