MINER -- Delta Companies will be moving a concrete plant into Miner.
During their regular meeting Tuesday, the Miner Board of Aldermen unanimously approved Delta's plan to establish the plant in the city.
The plant will be built on 10 acres of fenced-in property located off Woods Lane owned by Apex Paving Company, a company owned by Delta Companies, Inc., that currently has an asphalt operation there.
Mayor Frank Tatum said he "surveyed some people" in Miner and "they just don't want it -- and I understand it."
"It's the perfect location for what we want to do," said Dan Grier, regional manager for Delta Companies.
"I can't veto it or I sure would," Tatum said. "My citizens say 'no.'"
Grier assured that "we're good neighbors."
