JACKSON -- The Jackson Senior Babe Ruth baseball team swept a doubleheader at home against Dexter on Tuesday.
Jackson won the first game 7-3 with Jon Winkler earning the win on the mound, pitching five innings, allowing three runs, four hits and two walks. Winkler struck out five. Clay Roth came on to pick up the save by pitching two scoreless innings to close out the game.
Spencer Sander had two hits, including a triple and three RBIs while Trent Steffens also picked up two hits for Jackson.
Jackson won the second game 11-3 as Ethan Dambach pitched a complete game, allowing three runs, four hits and walking six. C.J. McAlister had two hits for Jackson, both doubles.
Jackson (15-9) has now won six in-a-row and will face the Charleston Squirrels at home on Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Legion field.
PORTAGEVILLE -- The New Madrid County Senior Babe Ruth team swept a doubleheader over the Charleston Woodpeckers on Monday, winning the first game 14-10 before taking the second game 9-8.
Mason Kellams was credited with the win in first game for Portageville while Chris Pavy got the win in the nightcap.
Ross Carter was 2-for-3 with two RBI and Jordan Pavy was 2-for-4 with three RBI in the first game while Kellams had a double and knocked in three runs. Eric Holloway hit a home run.
In the second game, Kellams was 2-for-4 while Carter was 2-for-3 with two RBIs. Jordan Pavy was 2-for-3 with three RBI, Derek Holloway was 2-for-3 and Caden Robbins added a solo home run.
With the win, NMC is now 6-8 on the season and will host Scott City today at 6 p.m.
