Chaffee, NMC split a pair

PORTAGEVILLE -- The Chaffee Squids and the New Madrid County Senior Babe Ruth baseball team split a doubleheader on Wednesday in Portageville.

Chaffee nabbed the first game with a 13-4 win in seven innings.

Chaffee starter, Alex Davie, picked up the win for the Squids.

New Madrid County answered back, however, with a five inning, 8-1 victory in the second game.

Chaffee (27-7) will host the Missouri Bulls tonight at 5:30 p.m. in Chaffee.

New Madrid County will open the first game of the 1st Annual Woodpecker Classic wood bat tournament against the Charleston Woodpeckers at 3 p.m. at Hillhouse Park in Charleston tonight as well.
