CARUTHERSVILLE - Law enforcement officials are awaiting the results of autopsy for an infant who was found dead Saturday.

Caruthersville police were called at 11:20 a.m. Saturday to an apartment on East Haven. According to Caruthersville City Marshal Chris Riggs, a three-month-old boy was on the couch in the living room and was reported as unresponsive.

After officers determined the child was deceased, the scene was secured and the Pemiscot County Coroner's office was notified, Riggs said.

"The infant was transported by the Pemiscot County Coroner's Office to the Mineral Area Medical Center for an autopsy," Riggs said in a news release. "The cause of death is unknown at this time pending the results of the autopsy."
