Officials give tips to help parents

SIKESTON - School officials know those anticipating the opening of school aren't so much the students as their parents.
And they are offering a few tips to ensure the first day comes off smoothly for both.
Crystal Hartzog, principal at Matthews Elementary School in Sikeston, suggests starting the school sleep-wake schedule several days prior to school actually starting. This will help ensure students, from elementary school through high school, are well-rested for the first day of school.
Also she urges students to eat a good breakfast.
