MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Those with concerns about levees and flooding can voice their opinions to the Mississippi River Commission later this month.
The commission will conduct its annual low-water inspection trip on the Mississippi River Aug.15-16. A town meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. Aug. 15 at the New Madrid Mississippi River water front aboard the Motor Vessel Mississippi.
According to a news release, the purpose of the meeting is for commission members to have the opportunity to meet with local residents and hear their concerns, ideas and issues.
During the public meeting, local interests are invited to present their views and suggestions on matters affecting the water resources infrastructure needs in the valley, including flood control and the Mississippi River and Tributaries project, environmental issues, recreation and navigation.
