SIKESTON -- Every August, the Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo brings in people from all over the country. In addition to promoting entertainment and fun in the Sikeston/Miner community, the Rodeo also generates a lot of business.
Cal Crader, the general chairman of the Bootheel Rodeo, said the Rodeo has an "estimated impact of five to eight million dollars a year in Southeast Missouri," with over a $1 million in revenue from the Rodeo itself.
"The Jaycees have provided us with a very family friendly marketing event for the Sikeston/Miner area," said Missy Marshall, executive director of the Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce.
According to Marshall, "the estimated impact of a dollar spent at Rodeo rolls over eight times." This means that every dollar spent at Rodeo has an eight fold impact in the community.
