SIKESTON -- Local veterans will join the many who benefit from the annual Sikeston Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo this year.

Thursday is Patriot Night, according to Cal Crader, general chairman for the 2011 Rodeo.

"It is designed to raise awareness of the need for rehabilitation and other services for the veterans who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan as they return with their units and get back to their families and regular careers," Crader said. "They're trying to transition from military life back to civilian life with their families and a lot of them need help. We'll do anything we can to help them get back into their lives after putting theirs on the line for our freedom. It's the least we can do for them."
