Sikeston man in custody for rape of 5-year-old

SIKESTON - A Sikeston man remains in custody for the reported rape of a 5-year-old.

Gabriel Dron Mitchell, 20, is charged with first degree statutory rape, sexual intercourse with a child less than 14 years of age. He is being held in the Scott County Jail in lieu of a $150,000 cash only bond.

Officers from the Sikeston Department of Public Safety began an investigation Aug. 10 after a physician reported a 5-year-old girl with a sexually transmitted disease.
