SIKESTON - Parking illegally in designated areas for the physically disabled can lead to more than just a ticket.
According to Sikeston Department of Public Safety, those illegally parking in designated handicapped parking areas could have their vehicles towed as well as be prosecuted for illegal parking.
Sgt. Jim McMillen, public information officer with DPS, explained the community has several designated handicapped parking areas set aside for those motorists with physical disabilities that require parking with particular access needs.
"There are those who pay no attention to these designated parking spaces and park illegally," said McMillen in a news release. "We at Sikeston DPS are asking you to share our commitment in making sure disabled motorists in our community have a place to park."
